This is a short "what I ate in a day" clip of a small child (Nilu) eating a kids' in-flight meal on an Etihad flight. The child eats from a plate of white rice (it looked like noodle strands in some frames) topped with an orange tomato-based curry sauce, peas, diced carrot and slivered almonds. The child also spoons a pale-yellow creamy food from a small ramekin and holds a small glass of amber juice. On the tray there are also bread rolls and a bowl of red curry that the child never touches. The parent says the child eats first and the adults will eat later.

In-flight meal: kids' rice and curry

Mixed 470 kcal

Up in the clouds, it's a kids' airline tray of rice with tomato curry, peas, carrots and almonds, plus custard and apple juice.

Veggies and almonds help, but white rice and juice bring refined carbs.

“Fine dining at thirty thousand feet, with complimentary elbow room for nobody.”

Kids' airline meal: white rice with orange tomato-based curry sauce, green peas, diced carrot and slivered almondsOne dinner plate (~25 cm), about 1 to 1.5 cups of rice with sauce · 250 g
Why this estimate

About 180 g cooked rice, 70 g curry sauce (counted with ~1 tsp cooking oil and some cream/butter, as is typical in airline Indian sauces), 30 g peas and carrot, and 5 g almond slivers. Some frames make the base look like rice vermicelli or idiyappam, which would have similar calories. A yellow-orange chunk could be chicken or potato.

Pale-yellow creamy food from a ramekin (probably custard; could be butter)Small ramekin about a third to half full, about 2–3 tbsp · 40 g · low confidence
Why this estimate

The child is eating it straight from the ramekin with a spoon, so it is counted as custard. If it is butter, 2–3 tbsp would be about 200–300 kcal.

Apple juice (amber drink)Small glass, about 120 ml · 120 g
Why this estimate

The child is holding this glass on their own tray. Counted as plain apple juice.
